Poncho Pics and Pattern

So it is finally finished! I just hope it fits my Mum, only time will tell. Anyway here are a few pictures and a promise of more finished projects yet to come!

And there is always the back. I just can´t believe how soft this yarn came out, I thought for sure shetland wool = mega-itch, but this stuff is great.

Saxon Braid Poncho Pattern:

Gage: 7 stitches and 10 rows=5 cm X 5 cm

The pattern is easy! It might seem very complicated but if you go slowly and carefully you will get it knitted up easy as pie.

Cast on 93 stitches on size 6mm needles.

Row 1: Purl 13 stitches, follow directions for the braid (over 26 stitches, starting with the set up row working on the wrong side), purl 13, braid again, then purl 15.

Row 2: Knit 13, braid, knit 13, braid, knit 15.

Keep going until you get to 137 cm total. Then folding over the side you have just cast off, seam onto the edge of the other (see the pictures), making sure not to make the neck too big.

Here is the saxon braid from Samus on Knitty.com,

3PRC: Slip next st to cable needle, hold to back of work, k2, p1 from cable needle.
3PLC: Slip next 2 sts to cable needle, hold to front of work, p1, k2 from cable needle.

4LC: Slip next 2 sts to cable needle, hold to front of work, k2, k2 from cable needle.
4PRC: Slip next 2 sts to cable needle, hold to back of work, k2, p2 from cable needle.
4PLC: Slip next 2 sts to cable needle, hold to front of work, p2, k2 from cable needle.

That came out beautifully! I love the yarn -- it has such a nice sheen to it. I'm sure she'll love it. :)

yay! Its beautiful! I love it and im sure your mum will too! good job. Im always impressed with how classy and sophisticated your pieces turn out to be. i think you have a real talent. And dont give me the excuse that its because you have a lot of time. I have plenty of time myself and my scarf still turned out hideous! hehe.

Your poncho is BEAUTIFUL!! I especially love the beautiful green you chose--it is my favorite color. Just wondering exactly what type of yarn you used and how much of it??
